Fox Prairie Golf Course Never Fails

Friday, June 19th, 2009

I played Fox Prairie Golf Course in Noblesville last weekend. This was my third outing at this course, so I obviously love it. Fox Prairie is a 27-hole traditional style golf course. There is a creek that comes into play half of the holes on the Central and East courses. A lot of the fairways are tight with wooded areas on either side and there are 5 ponds and plenty of native grass to contend with throughout the rest of the course. But don’t let me discourage you from playing here. All of those hazards make it a lot of fun to play.

The friendly staff at Fox Prairie runs a pretty tight ship from tee times to making sure your pace is keeping the field moving. And the rates are very reasonable with weekdays with a cart only being $41 and weekends being $47.

The next time you’re planning an outing I highly recommend Fox Prairie Golf Course in Noblesville, IN.  When you’re done playing be sure to submit your course feedback through our site as well.

Incredible golf experience at Wood Wind Golf Club

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

I had a chance to play Wood Wind Golf Club in Westfield the other day. The course used to be called Bent Tree (just last year) and before that Hanging Tree. After obtaining the property in late 2007, the home builder Estridge, intended to change more than just the name. I played the course last year and thought it was beautiful then. But the course I played the other day was incredible.

Here is a list of changes that Estridge made…

  • New Parking Lot west of the Clubhouse
  • New extensive landscaping around the entire premises of the Clubhouse and Pavilion
  • New entrance and exit design plan to and from the Club
  • Pavilion totally renovated to accommodate up to 175 people for a business meeting, reception or golf outing group
  • Newly renovated Clubhouse with beautiful dining area and pro shop
  • New 5,000 square foot putting green that sits adjacent to the south side of the Clubhouse
  • 64 brand new Club Car golf cars
  • Kelties teamed with Wood Wind Golf Club to provide all food and beverage for the Club
  • Doc O’Neal (General Manager) hired to organize all golf operations and details of Wood Wind Golf Club
  • Josh Harvey hired as Grounds/Course Superintendent in November of 2007. Golf course is in excellent condition!
  • Scott Heger, Class A Golf Professional, hired in November of 2007 as head golf professional

The last two points are what made the biggest difference for me. The tee boxes, fairways, hazards and greens are immaculate. The greens alone at Wood Wind now hold a PGA rating and are a lot of fun to play. They even change the way they handle tee times. Our group teed off at 8:48am. Apparently that’s the last tee time for the morning until 11am. So there weren’t any golfers behind us for the entire front nine. Then we lucked out and the foursome ahead of us quit after nine holes. We were totally alone on the back nine. It was the quietest round of golf I have ever played. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. And I have to give props to the refreshment cart girl Katie for “keeping them coming”!

The next time you’re planning an outing I highly recommend Wood Wind Golf Club in Westfield, Indiana. When you’re done playing be sure to submit your course feedback through our site as well.

Great Course
by Impressed, 4/28/2009

I’ve only had the luxury of being at this course a couple of times, but they provide a great experience. At one visit there was a charity golf outing being held, and the staff handled the large number of golfers very well and accommodated everyone to my knowledge.

Awesome Course
by indy2tall, 10/15/2008

This is simply an awesome golf course worth every penny you pay to play. Awesome scenery compliments the course which was in perfect condition when we played in October. Sure it is hard but when your shelling out some serious bucks why would you want it easy? If you want easy play Sahm! Now by far the best part of Bear Slide is those magnificent greens!!! They are lightening fast and will give.

Wildkat Creek
by Java C., 7/28/2008

Played the course a couple weeks ago and it’s still the best in Kokomo. Relatively wide open front-nine lends to the tighter and more scenic back nine. Greens are fast and fairways give plenty of roll. The par-5’s are long and difficult and the par-3’s need precise tee-shots for good scores. Even after a 30-40min rain delay the course drained and played excellent. The only thing they need are the GPS golf carts.

Great for a learning golfer
by K-Nasty, 4/3/2009

K-Nasty The course isn’t too challenging and is great for someone just learning to play golf.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing your comments!

Find Indiana Golf Courses through search with Hoosier Caddy

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

First, let me say welcome to our new blog. We decided that Hoosier Caddy needed to get a little more involved in the social network.

There are nearly 500 golf courses in the state of Indiana. That’s over 9,000 holes! How many have you played?

That’s been our marketing phrase since we established Hoosier Caddy a little over a year ago. In our opinion it still works. Our goal is to bring both in-state and out-of-state golfers closer to all of the golf courses that Indiana has to offer.

When we set out on this venture one thing more than any other set at the top of our list of “Reasons Why We’re Doing This”. That was to offer THE most extensive mapped Course Guide of any golf resource web site out there. We knew this goal would be easy to reach because we specifically target Indiana. Most sites try to cover the entire country if not the world. It’s impossible to capture everything on that large of scale.

As a golfer living in Indiana, you might wake up one warm Saturday morning and think, “I want to play someplace different today”. We provide you with the tools to find what you’re looking for. If you want to find a course in a particular area, our mapped Course Guide is an excellent way to zero in on all courses in that area. Simply choose your region, find the area you’re looking for and select one of the many course markers on the map. You will see a pop-up for every marker, letting you know the name and basic info of that course. By clicking on a marker, you will be taken directly to a page with information about that course.

We also offer a Quick Course Search feature. If you know the course you’re looking for, just type the name in the search field and click GO. And you’ll be taken directly to that course page. There are also extensive Region by Region Lists of courses for those who like to browse.

Here is a comment left by one of our members…

I was recently in Indiana and played golf with a few new friends. They introduced me to the Hoosier Caddy web site. I would definitely use this website the next time I am in town. This would be nice to have in the Houston area. The web site was easy to use and very helpful.

~Marvin Potter, Houston, TX

Check us out this spring when you’re ready to pull out those clubs.
